I am so super excited about the cosplay, it's ridiculous. Today I walked in Teri's house to get working on the props and I noticed that she had her staff roughly perched up next to the wall. It's only the wooden pole and the wood cutout of the top design but I couldn't stop omg-ing about it. Suddenly I could see it; my dream realized: WE CAN DO THIS!
At this moment I am extremely thankful for the reduction of my work hours and ample amounts of days off. It looks like the plan is going right on schedule.
This week I finished my dressform after a failed attempt to create the paper mache mold (super fail waste of 4+ hours). At least I already had the sturdy-ish plaster cast which I ended sealing back up, filling up with newspapers, and wrapping in duct tape. Only thing is that it has to wear a bra since the boobies got squished with the paper mache paste. Finally I can say that one of things on my checklist is DONE.
Today we managed super duper progress on the props. We were able to cut the poles to fit into my sword and Teri's staff. It was so super exciting to actually hold my sword up and point it at things, strike a few poses. Also re-realizing that the dammed thing is so effing huuuugee...
I've tested out several spray paints and finally settled on which to use. At this point I have to pick a day to go back to Home Depot and Pearl's to return a shitload of stuff >_< Thank god I live in Miami and not some small town where going to these places would be a field trip.
Pics coming up for reals... I thought the LJ gallery system would work from the hotel computers but it didnt :(
